Your Legacy

The bayou is part of our identity, a natural inheritance we owe to future generations.

If the bayou could speak, it would tell stories of bustling docks, families fishing along its banks, and children paddling through its waters. It would also remind us of how much it has given to our communities—and how little it asks in return.

Since 1950, the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District has been working behind the scenes to protect this vital resource. From ensuring fresh drinking water to restoring wildlife habitats, we’re committed to keeping Bayou Lafourche at the heart of our lives.

Our Mission

To preserve and enhance Bayou Lafourche as a source of fresh water, economic strength, and cultural heritage for all who live along its banks.

Our Vision

A thriving bayou that supports our community, nourishes wildlife, and inspires generations to protect its beauty and bounty.
